Matthew’s Teaching Gospel

Matthew's Gospel is the most quoted of the Gospels by the early Church Fathers. Contrary to scholarly opinion today, St. Augustine asserted that it was the first Gospel to be written. The context suggests a timeframe when the earliest Jewish church was shifting out of Jerusalem towards Antioch before going to the Nations. This explains, the availability of narratives and teaching materials for use by the Missionary Church under persecution then. Matthew believes that while the Christian message was derived from the early Jerusalem Jewish Church, it clearly calls for disciples of the Risen Christ to teach all nations. This event aims to examine the Gospel of Matthew through fresh perspectives and derive applications for these times that we live in.
