About the Ministry

The Sower Institute™ for Biblical Discipleship (English) is a ministry under The Bible Society of Singapore, focused on equipping the Body of Christ in Singapore and across Asia. It develops holistic discipleship, leadership, literacy, and missions training through workshops, seminars, and conferences. Partnering with other ministries, SIBD strengthens churches and Christian communities to live out a transformative faith.

Ongoing Projects include:

  • Trauma Healing Sessions: Continuing its partnership with the Trauma Healing Institute, SIBD offers sessions like the Trauma Healing Convening Session and Advanced Equipping Session, aiming to provide leadership and services to churches in addressing trauma, grief, and loss 
  • Beyond Success Programme: Leadership roundtables focusing on personal development and integrity-based leadership as a platform to reach out
  • Bible Study Workshops: Start to Read Biblical Hebrew continues to offer Biblical language training
  • Mental Health Courses: Ongoing mental-health related workshops like The Long-Term Effects of Trauma to address early life issues impacting adulthood

 

Past Courses (2020–2024)

  • Digitalisation of Programmes: In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, SIBD transitioned to offering a wide range of e-learning courses in English and Chinese
  • Mental Wellness Initiatives: Recognising the pressing need for mental health support, SIBD collaborated with organisations like Care for Life Singapore and the Trauma Healing Institute to roll out Bible-based mental wellness programmes. These included LIFE Training workshops focusing on suicide prevention and Trauma Healing workshops combining mental health practices with Biblical wisdom
  • Biblical Literacy Courses: Including studies like The Gospel of Mark and Start to Read Biblical Hebrew, aimed at deepening Scriptural understanding
  • Leadership Development: Programmes like Sketches of Leadership and Grow What Matters trained church leaders and laypersons
  • Urban Missions Training: Certificate courses in Transformational Urban Leadership equipped Christians for effective ministry in urban settings
  • Ageing and Wellness Initiatives: Programmes like Forever Young: Ageing with Success supported healthy, faithful ageing
